A trip to discover culture, business, skills and partying

“Such a great NCamp18 can only be followed by disappointment.”

- Like that or something similar sounded the fears of this year's NDay organization team. To once again exceed expectations after such a successful event as the Maker Faire, where last year the employees themselves were invited to over 40 workshops, the grandiose time at the pool, at the bar and with the newly discovered Namics Band was indeed a challenge.

After a turbulent year like this many things had changed for the Namicsler. On the one hand a new name was added: Merkle - and with it new colleagues from the Netherlands, England and Spain, but also new perspectives, opportunities and clients. And that's exactly why this year's NDay was also held under the motto "Our Journey together". But it's not just our trip with Merkle that's meant, it's also the adventure we've experienced together this year. On the other hand, there were more depths than heights at the beginning of the year - but holding out together brought us even closer together.

Our journey together

It was clear that Merkle's colleagues could not be absent this year. The motto "Our Journey together" was also reflected in the supporting programme of the event: We didn't have a Maker Faire this year, but we set off on a discovery tour through our culture, our business and our skills. Together with Merkle's colleagues, nine slots were worked out in tandem teams, which stimulated experience, amazement and participation.

Before the colleagues appeared in the respective slots, the opening speech of Eva, Mika and Gregor was on the program: The review of the year started with a film about NCamp18, the focus of the speech was on the people at Merkle, without whom we would not have implemented any successful projects this year - all of us!

And then the first round of slots began. In order to give everyone the opportunity to participate in the slots that interest them most, the slots ran simultaneously - three times in a row.

For example, there was the culture slotPower Point Karaoke, in which a Merkle employee competed against a Merkle employee. As is usual with Power Point karaoke, the participants did not know which topic they were talking about - and had to spontaneously tell a story about each other's corporate culture. The one who got the most laughs won.

The Future Innovation Cat Walk provided insights into new innovations such as artificial intelligence, automation and robotics. Participants transformed ideas about CX and data driven marketing into an outfit - and sent a model across the catwalk. Let's see how these outfits will look in our working world of the future.

Using freshly mixed cocktails, the Namics & Merkle CX Remix showed how the skills of Namics and Merkle can work together to create a great customer experience. Cultures, people and different methods were shaken and stirred. This customer experience can only taste good.

Several surprises were awaiting in the evening: The majority of the colleagues had dressed up and had already discovered this year's Christmas present. One or the other had already recognized the Christmas letters printed on red paper. In the weeks before NDay, Christmas letters were distributed at the locations. Every employee had the opportunity to fill out a personal letter for another employee - who finally gets the letter was not known. The Namicsler wondered what would happen to the letters. Nobody had guessed that it would become a message in a bottle. In the spirit of sustainability, the letters were packaged in Merkle-branded soul bottles. The design for the bottle was created by Sara Spirig, who won the design competition against other creatives.

After dinner there was a concert of the uniqueMerkle Band: This band was founded last year for the NCamp - with employees from all locations. The colleagues only had a few hours to practice. But once again their performance won the hearts of the audience in no time. After more than an hour the audience was satisfied, the band members exhausted and happy.

The NDay wasn't over yet, and the band served as a warm-up exercise. Musicians and audience continued to celebrate together on the dance floor.On the program were three DJs, who also came from the Merkle family.

When we sat on the bus the next morning and drove home, everyone agreed: There it was again, the feeling of community, the feeling of togetherness with which we experienced so much together this year. Once again our expectations were exceeded! Check out the video!
